hey!

after four years of dealing with gut dysbiosis, i've learned a thing or two. i hope to share those learning with you to help make your own healing process a little easier!

Water quality and why they put sugar in almond milk and yogurt are my two biggest rants. Anyways. Tap water is nasty AF and if you’re drinking it, you’re drinking water wrong. Unfiltered tap water can cause tons of stress within the body (impacting our liver, kidney, endocrine system… you name it), as it contains a lot of nasty shiz from heavy metals to pesticide runoff to pharmaceutical drugs. Mhm, drugs. Why? People flush their meds down the toilet, and then it goes into your future drinking water…

P.S. yes, what goes down the toilet goes into you water, because most water comes from sewage plants (filtration plants). This means tampon debris too, but we’ll just move past that to avoid lifelong mental trauma.

In the above image, this is the number I got back when testing the tap water in my town using the Zero Water’s TSD measuring stick. TSD stands for total dissolved solids, and it measures the total number of dissolved minerals, solids, and compounds in the water. If it’s at a 0, it’s considered purified (hence the filter’s name, Zero Water), and if it’s on the opposite end of the scale at 500, it’s pretty horridly packed with TSDs. My town is a “fancy” and “nice” town, and I was mind blown that the number was 403!! WTF. Vom. *Instantly regrets any night that I woke up and just grabbed water from the sink, or any hungover morning in college when I was too lazy to wait for the water to filter and used tap instead. More regrets: “ya, tap is fine!” at restaurants when I didn’t want to add bottled water to the bill.

Zero Water Filter removes 99% of these TSDs with their 5-stage filtration (this sounds like an ad, I realize lol, it’s not… just spreading the good water word), so I’ve been using it to help ensure my water is purified (product reco was on Cabral Concept episode 286 in case you want to listen in depth and hear other options!). Obviously, adding more toxicities like the ones found in tap water into my body is out of the question when it comes to healing, so this is a huge no for me. Filtering your tap water well is important for many reasons, but as an example relevant to myself includes that this filter reduces heavy metals in the water. I have an overabundance of mercury, aluminum, and arsenic. I want to do everything I can to NOT come into contact with those so that I can remove them from my body, so this filter is my assurance. Another great option is to go fill up all your glass jars and bottles at a local spring! They are way easier to find than you’d think.

TIP! I take my Berkey sport water bottle that my sister got me as a gift (original intended for traveling) to the gym and use that to filter the bubbler water. I realize that bubbler is a New England term… “water fountain“ for you other folk.

Double P.S. That Britta filter isn’t cutting it. Here’s proof. Sorry ‘bout it. This probably further makes it seem like an ad. Truthfully, I’m just very passionate about this topic, pissed that our water is so messed up, and love my water filter.

Side tip: Plastic water bottles are truthfully TERRIBLE for your hormones (plastic produces more estrogen in the body, which goes on to cause cancer & other neurological affects).

Triple P.S. If you already have heavy metals in your body or think you do, this is what I used to get help get rid of mine.
